This edger only cuts about 60% of the grass and the rest it pushes away! It makes the job harder to because it barely has enough power making you the operator put forth more work to get it through the grass. The product is very light weight and easy to manage. Blade cuts well and is easy to maneuver. After you remove the “sod,” you would normally use a blower or push broom to clean up what’s left. Then, you could consider a pressure washing of the sidewalk, as there will be dirt under the sod on the concrete.
Guess what – I ran into the best edger that I have ever used. Even though the cautious side of mine made me get an extra set of blades, I have already completed all the trenching and edging projects on a 3 year old lawn all, in professional quality. All that is needed is some patience, and a bit of practice. Keep in mind that I am not that handy with tools.
You can trust the reviews for this product; it’s very easy to use and works very well. It’s not underpowered at all and cut through 3 inches of grass during my use.
It is easy to handle and powerful enough to penetrate the red clay crust in our yard. I had a little trouble getting precision edge-lines since I was used to a single-wheel model that has been discontinued.
I would like Black & Decker to make a battery powered cordless model just like this one since keeping the cord out of the way is a chore, and B&D makes excellent cordless tools. Although it does a great job edging the sidewalks, it does not edge the landscape at all.
The edger was able to cut through the turf with only minor difficulties. It did at one point start to overheat at a really thick muddy portion of the turf.
Does what it’s supposed to do quickly and easily. I have what I think is a pretty standard size suburban lot (10,000 square foot), this edger cuts a clean path around the driveway and sidewalk in short order. It’s solidly constructed and it’s obvious that B&D paid a lot of attention to both ergonomics and safety. It’s well balanced, has an adjustable handle, and sports a heavy-duty electrical connection that includes a cord minder and an oversized, umbrella-like plug. First we found out that we had lost about 6 inches of driveway because of overgrown grass and second we realized we could not get as clean an edge as we did with this edger. It took a while to initially edge since we were cutting so much grass but it was well worth it. Plus I’m done edging in no time flat! Like a hot knife through butter.
If the edge guide happens to follow the concrete, the blade is spaced so far from it, that it doesn’t catch everything and you have to go back and forth over it until you randomly get it. Great power that delivers the clean edge you want on your lawn. It does not work if you have an edge that has never been edged before in clay soil with tough sod. Mine overheated and the motor burnt out.
But after reading many of the reviews here decided to take a chance. REPLACE CAR WINDSHIELD.
