Installing of a back yard garden fountains is completed to add increased interest to attract attention. You can use a water feature to boost the feel of the back yard. In order to install a fountain in your back yard, a decision must be made for the location.
If you have decided in on a place you wish to place a fountain, preparation is needed for the ground. Use a tape measure to obtain the measurements for the base of the fountain. Measure out the bottom of your fountain on the ground after which you need to increase the size by two inches.
Make the location of the fountain with paint or use stakes. Remove the turf by first plunging a spade into the ground. Remove the dirt down to a level which is a few inches below the top of turf. Throw out all the dirt in a wheelbarrow or use a tarp.
Add crushed rock to your hole to a depth of two inches. Spread the rock by using a metal rake. You then need to add a 1-inch layer of sand that will need to be tamped with a hand tamper. If the sand is not level then add more until you are satisfied.
Set the base for the water feature on the sand and verify it is sitting flat. Pull the power cord out of the fountain base. Seal any holes that are found in the base by using putty or caulk.
Power for the pump motor for garden fountains can be provided by using a solar panel or power cord extension. The use of a solar panel will require proper installation to ensure that is will run adequately. Place the top on the fountain and make sure it is secured before adding the water. Test the fountain by turning on the pump.
