The Importance of Tree Care
It is misleading for anyone to believe that plantations in the urban setting are unnecessary or unimportant. Some people believe that plantations should be limited to just the rural and traditional environment where it is believed they will thrive better than the others; again, this is wrong and misleading. Regardless of what anyone offers as reasons for this, plantations are essential members of the environment and must be allowed to coexist in the same environment as man does regardless of where.
Planting trees is important but it must be accompanied by a corresponding guidance as to minimize challenges in the future. The consequence of planting trees without guidance always becomes evident in the long run. One might not be able to tell how deep the roots of a tree would go and of course there are trees whose roots can growth several inches into the earth. It has become a problem today in most places as trees planted several years ago have brought with them extra baggage of trouble.
In taking care of one’s trees, the health of the tree is the most important. Beyond the nursery when the seedlings must be tended for with gloved hands, to the transplanting (for some) and the gradual but steady growth into a full fledged tree producing leaves, branches and fruits, one must watch out for any disease outbreak. An infection can ruin a tree’s fruits rendering them totally inconsumable. Early detection is the key and one must ensure that every symptom must be treated before it gets worse.
One way of taking care of trees is by pruning them. Pruning involves cutting away of some branches for a reason. There are several reasons why one could consider pruning their trees. It could be to remove weak or diseased branches which could influence and ultimately endanger the life of the rest of the tree or to make it neater and inhabitable for unwanted guests like rodents and snakes. Pruning must be carefully done to ensure only the right branches that should be pruned are trimmed.
It is advisable that people seek help before undertaking any major planting of trees. Aside from the risk of loosing one’s home, where a tree is discriminately planted by the roadside, it could cause damage to the pavements and roadways. It is said that prevention is better and cheaper than cure; it is safer to move several distances backward from the wise words of the professionals than seeking out there help when the damage is done already. Remember they understand the growth pattern of the trees.
Trees are beneficial and their planting must be encouraged but so also must the importance of planting trees only within specified distances especially in residential quarters. When in extreme cases where the damage has been done, depending on the gravity of the damage, one of either the structure or tree must eventually go; most times it is the tree that is usually sacrificed. What would it look like if such a tree was very economical? Painful! Understanding these scenarios a forehand is simply invaluable.
