Instead of giving Dad a tie or a shirt for Father’s Day, why not give him something a little more outside the usual? There are tons of great choices that Dad will love, and he will be surprised and touched by your thoughtfulness.
Sure we buy Mom flowers on her day, but there is no reason why Dad can’t be treated to a flower arrangement. There are even quirky arrangements that include items such as a blue 1948 Ford truck replica or an arrangement that incorporates a mini barbecue grill.
Gift baskets are a thoughtful gift and especially nice if you don’t live near Dad. You can find these filled with just about any culinary delight. If Dad loves baseball, for instance, there are baskets specifically made with this theme in mind, containing Cracker Jacks, peanuts, root beer and more ballpark treats. A junk food bucket filled with candy, treats and potato chips is a fun way for Dad to indulge. You can also opt for a healthier basket filled with the best seasonal fruits.
Vintage gifts are all the rage, so give Dad a blast from the past. You could purchase a tabletop replica jukebox that plays CDs or opt for a replica record player that not only plays records but can be used to change vinyl records to MP3s. If you have a local used record store, check it out and see if you can find a few albums to add to Dad’s collection.
If Dad has it all, then give him an experience instead. For example, you can book a trip on a World War II airplane or let Dad test his driving skills on an actual NASCAR raceway. Other choices might include booking a sailboat trip, a hang-gliding adventure or a hot air balloon ride. There are even companies that will take you up in the air for a realistic combat dogfight.
If budget is an option, then create a special Dad day with your family. Treat him to a hearty breakfast then let him spend the day watching his favorite sports or moves and then plan a big barbecue for the evening. You can also opt to take Dad out for dinner at his favorite restaurant.
