Perennial Flower Care: Dividing Flowers

Perennial flower care: dividing perennials www.gardening-tips-perennials.com is simple when you use these professional gardening techniques. Award winning garden author Doug Green shows you how and describes the important things to understand in this short video. The first thing to understand in propagating perennial flowers is that they’re not overly difficult to do once you get used to it. You can see by the way I’m holding the perennial plant that it’s not tender. Propagating perennial flowers and giving them the proper plant care is easily done in very early spring or mid-fall when the plant isn’t growing strongly. I prefer very early spring for both digging and moving perennials as well as dividing flowers. It seems to me I have better survival rates in the spring than fall and the plants start right growing and have the entire season to recover and develop strength. You’ll also see the gardening equipment needed is a sharp shovel and a strong back; it doesn’t take fancy gardening tools or equipment to dig and divide a perennial flower. Do check out the website above where I answer gardening questions and write a blog about perennial flowers. www.gardening-tips-perennials.com
